As I am using a free website monitoring tool I thought about what it might be like to be the bot that does the monitoring. First, I realized that it must be a very boring job. The bot has to check my website every 30 minutes 24/7. If it finds that my site is down, it sends me a quick email. Then, when it finds that my site is live again, it sends another email. Sounds like a pretty boring existence.

It kind of sounds like the Google bot, although that bot probably has a lot more fun. It gets to see billions of websites all over the world. And, it has to work extremely fast to get the kind of data that Google requires.
