One of the strongest factors that stands out to me from mormon history is the persecution of the early Saints. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized on April 6, 1830, and from that time people were persecuted for their beliefs and were driven from their homes time and time again. Mormons are still hated with a vengeance in Missouri, where they tried to settle and build Zion, the New Jerusalem, as they were commanded to do, in Jackson County. Here, yet again, they were driven from their homes. The infamous Extermination Order from Governor Boggs authorized them to be driven from their homes and from the state.
