Motivation and Lack Thereof - Why?
I’m sure many people reading this know the feeling of starting an exercise program, getting all excited about it, then giving it up a few weeks later. I know a few people who’ve done that repeatedly. They start out with all kinds of motivation, but it quickly fades. Since I’ve been working out in one form or another for over twenty-five years, after making it to almost thirty as a couch potato, they’ve all asked me for motivational tips. And you know what? I really have nothing to give them! I just think if you want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t have that deep-down inside motivation to make a fitness exercise program part of your lifestyle, I don’t know how you can fake it. Kinda like when rock stars finally decide to get off drugs after many years of addiction. Something finally clicks. You either have it or you don’t. Maybe non-motivated exercisers need to spend a few weeks reading up on all the benefits of exercise and healthy eating. They are usually only interested in losing weight, and that might not be enough to get one through the tough periods.
