My Mom almost drowned when she was four. Her family went to a birthday party at a house that had a pool. Because it was so crowded and there was a lot of commotion, she slipped out the back door unnoticed and ended up falling in the pool. Luckily, a guest looked out the window and saw splashing. He ran out and saved her. Ever since then, my Mom refuses to go near water, even though she barely remembers what happened. When I got married, we chose a seaside wedding and she had a panic attack. After that, I suggested she look into finding a treatment of panic attack, and try to conquer her fear.
