Inheritance tax can often be paid through installments.  However, if it is not paid by this means there are three other ways to pay an inheritance tax UK bill.  The first of these is chargeable lifetime transfers.  Inheritance tax is due to be paid six months after the end of the month of the transfer.  However, if the transfer is made between April and October in any year, the tax is due at the end of April of the following year. Secondly, estates.  The personal representatives must pay the tax bill at the time the inheritance tax account is sent to HMRC, and this, of course, depends on the length of time it takes to sort out the estate.  Thirdly, and lastly, PETs.  The tax due on a PET that becomes chargeable due to the death of the transferor within seven years needs to be paid no longer than six months after the death.
