The United States Postal Service delivers mail to 145 million locations six days per week and drives an estimated 1.1 billion miles every year. It uses over 125 million gallons of auto fuel to do all this.

Those are big numbers! They are in a unique position to demonstrate to the American public the positive environmental benefits of alternate fuel options.
They are going to test a hybrid van for mail delivery in the Boston area that will be monitored while taking mail to normal routs for business and residential clients.
They operate thirty thousand alternate fuel vehicles in hopes to reduce costs. Every penny in gas prices, costs and additional eight million a year to the USPS.
