How to Become a Certified Medical Transcriptionist
Contact your local community colleges or if you wish to be in a private University, call them as well and ask if they are offering Medical Transcriptionist programs. If they are, ask for the list and see if they have what you like and if there programs are state-approved. Once you have chosen a specific program, register for it and complete it for six months, one year or two years depending on the length of study that is required for the program. It is preferable that you go for those with longer length of study as recommended by most potential employers. After completing the program, proceed to the examination that will give you a title of a Certified Medical Transcriptionist after passing it. You can contact the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity for the processes involved. Once you gain the certification, you need to follow some procedures for the recertification. Also ask the association for the details.
